About

Hi, I’m Michael.

I started Data Driven Buyer because buying stuff should not feel this confusing.

Every product page seems to be shouting the same things: more power, more features, better deal, best seller, upgraded version, pro performance, limited-time something-or-other. After a while, it all starts to blur together.

This site exists to slow that down.

Data Driven Buyer is here to help regular homeowners and everyday buyers understand what actually matters before spending money. Not just which product has the biggest number on the box, but which specs matter, which ones are mostly marketing, and what tradeoffs are hiding in the fine print.

A bigger number is not always better.
A more expensive tool is not always the smarter choice.
And “best overall” does not mean much if it is not best for what you actually need.

My goal is to make buying decisions a little less frustrating.

I am a retired teacher, so I tend to approach this the same way I approached explaining things in the classroom: break it down, define the terms, compare the choices, and make the decision easier to understand.

On this site, I look at things like specs, common use cases, long-term value, owner complaints, product limitations, and the little details people often miss until after they buy. Sometimes that means comparing two similar products. Sometimes it means explaining one confusing spec. Sometimes it means pointing out that the cheaper option may be perfectly fine.

I am not here to hype every product like it is the greatest thing ever made. That kind of review does not help anyone.

Data Driven Buyer is not about chasing the fanciest option.

It is about helping you buy the right thing for your situation, your budget, and the way you are actually going to use it.

Some articles may include affiliate links. That means I may earn a small commission if you buy through a link, at no extra cost to you. That does not change the goal of the site: clear explanations, practical comparisons, and honest buying advice.

I do not want you to buy more than you need.

I want you to understand what you are buying.
