What Duct Size Does the AlorAir Sentinel WHD 120 Use?

The Sentinel WHD 120 is built around 10-inch main duct connections. AlorAir’s WHD-series documentation also lists a 6-inch fresh-air connection when the fresh-air function is used.

That distinction matters because the WHD 120 is not simply a large portable dehumidifier. It is designed for ducted whole-house installation, and the duct arrangement is part of the buying decision.

Quick Answer

  • Main inlet: 10 inches
  • Main outlet: 10 inches
  • Fresh-air connection: 6 inches

AlorAir also sells a 10-inch backdraft damper specifically for the Sentinel WHD series.

The WHD 120 Has More Than One Airflow Layout

AlorAir’s current product page says the unit supports multiple inlet/outlet arrangements, including forward-air/rear-air and forward-air/up-air configurations.

The manufacturer lists airflow at 229 CFM and 309 CFM, depending on fan operation, and rates the unit for up to 3,000 square feet. It also lists 104 pints/day at AHAM conditions and 85 pints/day under DOE whole-house conditions.

What Is the 6-Inch Duct For?

The smaller 6-inch connection in the WHD documentation is associated with the fresh-air function, not the main dehumidified-air inlet/outlet path.

Does Duct Diameter Tell You the Whole Installation?

No. “The duct fits” and “the system is designed correctly” are different questions. Airflow, return and supply placement, fresh-air strategy, static pressure, condensate drainage, service access, and how the dehumidifier interacts with the air handler all matter.

For an existing whole-house HVAC system, use the manufacturer’s installation manual and involve an HVAC professional if the duct design is not already established.

Bottom Line

For the Sentinel WHD 120, plan around 10-inch main inlet and outlet duct connections. The WHD documentation also specifies a 6-inch fresh-air connection. Do not treat those diameters as a complete HVAC design by themselves.
