Short answer: Possibly, and this is one of the more interesting things about the Jackery Explorer 5000 Plus. Unlike many portable power stations, it provides genuine 120/240V AC output. Jackery lists up to 7,200W at 120/240V through its L14-30R and 14-50 outputs.
That makes a 240V well pump a legitimate question. It does not make every 240V well pump an automatic yes.
Why 240V Changes the Conversation
A 120V-only power station simply cannot directly supply a normal 240V pump. The Explorer 5000 Plus can supply 240V, so the next questions become the pump’s running current, startup demand, and how it is connected.
Jackery specifies the 240V outputs at 30A and 7,200W maximum. The station’s overall surge rating is 14,400W.
What to Find on the Pump or Control Box
- Voltage: confirm it is actually a 240V load.
- Running amps or watts.
- Starting or locked-rotor current if available.
- Any pump-control-box requirements.
- Whether the pump is hardwired into the home rather than cord-connected.
A hardwired well pump is not something I would treat like a toaster with a bigger plug. Jackery sells compatible transfer equipment for home circuits, and the connection method should be planned as part of the backup system.
A Simple Power Check
If a 240V pump drew 10A while running, simple apparent-power arithmetic would be:
240V × 10A = 2,400VA
That is comfortably below 7,200W on paper, but motor power factor and startup current mean that calculation alone is not enough to declare compatibility. The startup requirement is often the harder part.
What About Runtime?
If the pump consumed 2,000W whenever it was running, 5,040Wh ÷ 2,000W gives about 2.52 hours of continuous theoretical runtime before losses. A real well pump cycles, so gallons used, pump run time, pressure-tank behavior, and other simultaneous loads matter enormously.
The Bottom Line
The Explorer 5000 Plus is one of the relatively uncommon portable stations for which “can it run my 240V well pump?” is worth investigating rather than dismissing immediately. The published voltage and output are there. Your pump’s actual electrical data still decides the answer.
